The 36th Milo Marathon

The 36th Milo Marathon Metro Manila Eliminations was held last July 29, 2012. As the biggest running event in the country, they will be giving once again running shoes to the unfavorable children of the Philippines.

The 36th Milo Marathon was truly a remarkable running event for me. I woke up early at 3 am and had light breakfast at KFC. I wasn't hungry but I just forced myself to eat. I was thinking that If I was going to faint during the race. Hahaha!. By 4:30 am, my friends and I were off to the venue.
Left to right Jomar, Anciro, Rj, Xtian, Empi & Jin
We arrived at the check-in area a few minutes after and there were a lot of people already. And I mean a lot!. According to the organizers, there were around 40,000 registered runners.

As the clock hit 5:30, the race finally started.

Just as I planned, I take my run easy since I have not done enough long runs in preparation for this race. Upon reaching the 1-Kilometer mark station , I started my run-walk-run with an interval of 5:1 ( 5 minutes run, 1 minute walk). As the heat continued to grow intense, upon reaching the last 1 kilometer I decided to speed up my pace. With this technique, I reached the finished line with a good time and was still feeling great.  And reaching the finish line was more than a great experience for me.
" I am not a good runner, but I love doing it.... the experience of sweating and the sound of my breathing gives me that passion to push and go beyond my limits."
It was such a nice experience running with my friends. And because of that, a new memorable bonding experience was created. It was also a nice feeling to support an event for a good cause.

  8. I don't run, but I admire people who can finish a marathon, specially one that would benefit less fortunate children.

  9. The government should support our sports development programs and competitions more than what Milo does.
